Ultimo’s Lingerie on Rollercoasters

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

There are certain situations where you know you need secure support – basically, any time you’re going to be moving a lot! We’ve seen HerRoom bounce test their sports bras, but Ultimo took bra testing to the extreme when they had their models not run or jump, but ride rollercoasters in Ultimo bras! This promotional video, shot at the Alton Towers Resort, shows models on the rides wearing nothing but their Ultimo lingerie to prove that the brand offers bras that support well and prevent accidental exposure.

Morwenna Angove, Sales and Marketing Director for the Alton Towers Resort, said, “Whilst we understand that in warmer climates women will wear skimpier clothing, the tests show that well-fitted brassieres such as those from the Ultimo range will help to control the risk of further unprecedented exposures in the future.”

It looks like the bras shown in the video are the Perfect Line Lace Balcony Bra, the Ella Balcony Bra, and the Soleil Plunge Bra.

Cami Too by Fashion Forms

Cami Too by Fashion Forms

Cami Too by Fashion Forms

There are plenty of times when you might not want to show off your cleavage like in the office, meeting your new boyfriend’s parents, or your grandma’s 90th birthday party. Most women either opt not to wear their favorite plunging tops, or they cover up with a camisole. These extra layers can be unwanted and unnecessary in summer’s heat, but Cami Too by Fashion Forms solves that problem!

Cami Too is a detachable lace piece that gives you additional coverage and the illusion of a camisole. You put it on over your head (like a regular camisole) and then attach it to your bra straps with the incorporated hooks. There are other similar produts on the market (click here to view the Winkee) but this is my personal favorite. I have several and reach for them often when a top seems a bit too low. It’s also very easy to go from day to night with the Cami Too – just slip it off at the end of a work day and stash it in your bag before meeting friends for drinks!

You can find Cami Too at Bare Necessities. It is available in sizes S/M, L, and XL and colors Black, White, and Ivory.

How to Pay Less for Designer Lingerie

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

Designer lingerie has something special about it that you can’t find at your nearest mall, and it can easily become an addiction – that’s why a lot of you are reading The Lingerie Post in the first place. Of course, we aren’t all fabulously wealthy, but that doesn’t mean we can’t live like we are (at least under our clothes)!

I shamelessly hunt down deals whenever and wherever I can. After all, the more money I save, the more I have to spend on even more lingerie! I’ve picked up a few tips along the way, and today I’m going to share them with you.

1. Check The Lingerie Post’s sale page. I mention this page a lot, but for good reason – we keep tabs on hundreds of online boutiques to see when they are offering good deals or coupon codes, and we publish the best of them. The sales page has information on discounts and sales for a good mix of lower and higher end lingerie sites (and even a few “brick and mortar” sellers) and it’s the first resource I check whenever I start shopping.

2. Join sites like RueLaLa or The Gilt Group. These websites have fresh sales on different designer brands nearly every day.  These require a bit of watching though – you have to check the site every day (or subscribe to the email notifications) to see which sales are coming up which days, and when the sales begin you often need to sign in and make your purchases quickly to get your favorite pieces because they can sometimes sell out within hours. Your attention and patience is often well-rewarded, however, with discounts as high as 70%-80% off. These sites are fashion-oriented, so they not only sell lingerie but also clothes, accessories, and sometimes housewares.

3. If there is a specific brand you want to keep an eye on, find that brand’s website and join their email newsletter list (if available). They will often send you an email before a big sale or during promotions.

4. There are outlet sites from the main players in the online lingerie market, Figleaves, Bare Necessities, and Freshpair. These sites all carry a number of designer lines in addition to their more affordable offerings, and merchandise from past seasons, or a style that has been discontinued, can be found in these outlets. Here is just a sample: as I write this, the Figleaves Outlet has Julianne for 60% off and Elle Macpherson for 40% off, the Bare Necessities Outlet has La Perla and Dolce & Gabbana for 50% off, and CheapUndies (the Freshpair outlet) has Chantelle and Va Bien for 30% off. The only thing to remember about these outlet sites, however, is that many purchases are final sale only.

5. Ebay isn’t for everyone, but if you’re not wary of buying from an individual and you know exactly what you want, great discounts can be found. Maybe someone bought something on final sale and it didn’t work out, so now they’re trying to get rid of it for dirt cheap. One tip – I look for things marked “New With Tags” or “NWT” so you know it hasn’t been worn before.

6. If all else fails and it looks like you will need to pay retail for the lingerie of your dreams, do one last internet search. Go to your favorite search engine and search for the store name and the term “coupon code” (e.g. “HerRoom coupon code”).  Usually you can find out if there is a discount code available by clicking on the first few search results.
